Our Home Quilting Project
Our Home is a local quilting project that the RLC support. Khun Tiew is the
longest serving member and supporter of the RLC. Her dream was to build a
place for a group of girls to live securely while learning life skills
necessary to care for themselves. To fulfill this dream, she saw a need for a
self-supporting place that would help them develop these lifelong skills. She
chose quilting. This was something new for both Khun Tiew and the girls. It
took time and a great deal of effort and perseverance. The girls are now
skilled quilters. They are extremely proud of their work and Khun Tiew is very
proud of them.
The girls come from all over Thailand. Many of them have not known a home of their own. At Our Home they have a home. They live in a family like atmosphere and participate in all aspects of family life. Most importantly they realize that someone cares about them. They join in decision making and problem solving. Each girl has her own bank account and is encouraged to save for her future.
The quilts are of the highest standard, not only in workmanship but also in the design and materials used. Customers have a choice in every detail of the quilt. Khun Tiew is on hand to offer advice and assistance. Each quilt ordered and sold ensures the continuing success of Our Home.
